Really great list! I personally did some of the things listed, and not others. I really regret not doing a lot of things that would have improved my skills and knowledge. I hope a lot of students find this article!

This article is great and more than a little liberating. As an aspiring Graphic Artist it is good to know that there are others out there willing to take the time to help posterity.
I am quite proud to say that I developed and try to practice some of the things you outlined in my own daily routine. One thing however that I find hard to overcome is the awe, so to speak, in which I hold more advanced designers. It makes it very hard to feel like you can talk to them, perhaps it comes with age.
Great article it is very inspiring!
